The Atlas Mountains

Posted by Freya Duignan on

I've dipped my toes in these very waters with my husband Ade and Salah - the wonderful Moroccan man we are sponsoring to come over and help us with our business and life. After spending hours drinking hot sweet mint tea and haggling over magnificent Kilims with theatrical Arabic men in white robes, we made our way up the Atlas Mountains towards this river where restaurants sit side by side making the choice of where to dine for lunch a little difficult as everywhere is perfect. We wound up the hard morning's work up of carpet buying and hawker hassling with a mouthwatering Moroccan chicken bbq and fresh tomato salad, while watching families of children, fathers, and ladies in burkas seeking refuge from the 50 degree heat by wading up to their shins in the refreshing water. Ade is there now filling our next container. I'm here in the cold reminiscing. Wishing to be back in Morocco with my love...
